Khalid MohammedDOHA, Qatar (February 2, 2011) – With 903 thundering cubic inches of fuel injected power in front of him and crew chief and championship racer Pat Musi calling the shots on his Pro Nitrous ’69 Camaro Pro Mod, B1 Racing driver Khalid Mohammed is extremely confident heading into this week’s Arabian Drag Racing League’s Round 6 in the Championship series at Qatar Racing Club in Doha. The engine, from Musi’s shop in the U.S., was just installed and has already given the team positive results.

“We ran some laps in testing just to make sure everything was working, and the results were encouraging,” Mr. Mohammed said. “We ran a 3.91 and a 3.97 without really pushing it, so Pat is sure we’ll be able to deliver during the race.”

The new engine means a whole new setup for the car, and that means Mr. Mohammed has to adjust to a practically new car; but the veteran racer said his driving is unaffected.

“It definitely feels different – it’s going faster than before and accelerating quicker, but those are the kinds of changes I like. I’m very confident that Pat and the team will give us a car that will go rounds on Friday. The entire team – from [teammates] Josh [Hernandez] and Ali [Aryan]’s crew have jumped in, and we are all really working well together. That’s the way teams are successful.

“As far as I’m concerned, everything is A-okay,” Mr. Mohammed said.

Qualifying for the ADRL round 6 begins Thursday afternoon and continues Friday, followed by eliminations Friday evening.  Mr. Mohammed is currently in third place in the championship points race.
