Khalid Mohammed takes Bahrain 1 to the Pro Nitrous finals in ADRL Round 4

DOHA, Qatar  – Bahrain 1 Pro Nitrous driver Khalid Mohammed drove to the final round of the Arabian Drag Racing League Fourth Round at Qatar Racing Club in Doha and maintained his No. 3 position in the championship points Friday.

Mr. Mohammed qualified No. 6 in the eight-car field with a 4.109 second pass at 189.20 mph, and was paired with Ali Alkaabi in the first round of eliminations Friday afternoon.

Mr. Mohammed blistered the Christmas tree with an .010 light and ran a 3.973 189.66 mph beat Mr. Alkaabi and advance to a semifinal meeting with former NHRA Pro Mod world champion Burton Auxier. Auxier lost the race before it started with a red light start, but Mr. Mohammed’s performance of 3.968-seconds at 190.22 mph would have been a formidable number to beat regardless.

In the finals, Mr. Mohammed was paired with current number one driver Khalid Al-Balooshi, and the B1 driver knew he had to give everything he had in order to challenge the hard-running Al-Balooshi. When the lights turned green, the 854 cubic inch Sonny’s engine delivered as much horsepower as possible, but the car was unable to transfer the power to the ground, shook the tires and forced Mr. Mohammed into Al-Balooshi’s lane, forfeiting the race.

“I have to give credit to the entire Bahrain 1 team for getting our car to the finals. Everyone helped tune and prepare my car, and the results were great,” Mr. Mohammed said. “I can’t thank everyone enough.

“We ran very hard all day long today, and making it to the finals was a great success. The confidence we gained and the data we gathered will definitely keep us moving forward next week when we race again in Round 5.

“Next race, we just have one more round to win,” Mr. Mohammed added.

Bahrain 1 Racing will return to the drag strip at Qatar Racing Club January 13-14 for Round 5 of the eight-race season.
